Report: Solar Powered Irrigation/water supply projet in Tanzania
I am the Executive secretary of RIFA which is the regisred non profit organization(NGO) in Tanzania,East-Africa.The NGO is seeking financial and technical support to set-up awind ans solar workshop around the lake Victoria in Tanzania to enable the community in the area to get water pumping Solar and wind pumps for food production though irrigation and water supply to the community and livestock by the use of lake Victoria water and renewable energy to reduce poverty and hunger in the area.

In spite of the presence of "unlimited" amounts of water in lake Victoria, and the existence of relative low lands along the lake shore,no traditional or new techniques such as diesel and electric pumps.Solar and windmills water pumps is recommended by the community in the area due to the cost of runing the projets.

By irrigation ,agriculture can be made more independent from the strongly fluctuating amounts of rainfall. With a tape in the villege women need to waste less time and energy to carry water on their head and can therefore use their time for other activities.
